These 3 elements to Internet Marketing success, which are all intrinsically linked are:
1. Having the correct Mindset – FOCUS
2. Getting Advice You Can Trust – Suitable MENTOR
3. Apply the skills learnt appropriately
WELL – We already have completed the first two!
1. MINDSET – FOCUS
The difference between successful marketers and unsuccessful ones is entirely mental. In any endeavour, the right mindset makes all the difference. This is just as applicable to online marketing as anything else.
Having the right mindset accelerates the learning curve, the more excited we are, the faster and better we learn new techniques and skills, and the sooner we can apply them.
If you have a good mental outlook, you will be more than ready to learn everything you can about your new field. In fact, you’ll be excited to learn and ready to get out there and put your new knowledge to work, knowing that with an attitude like yours, you can’t fail.
Our thinking is entirely in our control. It’s not always easy to change our thought patterns, but it can be done.
A few thoughts on areas concerning obtaining the correct mindset for success.
Awareness. Just knowing where we sabotage our own success is half the battle. The mind is like a search engine; it categorizes and prioritizes the things we’ve told it, is really important.
Reframing negative self-talk. Are you allowing negative self-talk to play like an endless tape in your mind? Are you telling yourself you can’t do this, or don’t deserve to? For example, notice the difference between telling yourself you can’t handle something and asking yourself how you will handle something. Doesn’t the second thought feel more hopeful and produce more creativity?
Visualize success.
Dale Carnegie famously said, “Believe that you will succeed. Believe it firmly, and you will then do what is necessary to bring success about”.
Instead, imagine yourself succeeding, in whatever way you define success. Take a few moments to put those pictures in your head every day before you start working. Sports psychologists encourage athletes to see themselves winning long before the game is played. The same goes for you. See yourself as a winner, believe yourself to be a winner, and you will become a winner.
Make a goals list.
Make a list of goals and check them off as you achieve them. You’ll have proof of your success, and nothing inspires success like more success.
2. Finding a suitable mentor
Well, we have already done this. Check John Thornhill out on IMREPORTCARD.com and feel reassured – enough said.
3. Apply the skills we learn to create and promote quality and honest products
“Vision is not enough, it must be combined with venture. It is not enough to stare up the steps, we must step up the stairs”.
Vaclav Havel
We should have high standards when it comes to the stuff we sell online.
Only sell things that people can use.
Only sell things that are high quality and honest.
People are eager to learn what you know. Knowing more, and knowing the right kinds of things, can improve anyone’s life.
On getting advice we can trust, we need to take that advice and apply it to our own marketing. The only way to do that is through trial and error. We need to experiment, make mistakes, and remember that this is a learning curve and we are in it for the marathon, not the sprint.
